so, we're setting up for the rummage sale today and a neighbor comes over and donates some awesome stuff! including these 2 pieces of art. I looked up the artist, Thomas R Voorhis, he died in January of this year out in the Black Hills. these look to be originals but I am not an expert. there is a website in his memory, he has a lot of quotes about humility. "humility" was one of his favorite words and things. Here are the words that are on the one drawing: "O Great Spirit, ...Whose voice I hear in the winds and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me. I need your strength and wisdom. let me walk in beauty and my eyes behold the red and purple sunset. make my hands respect the things you have made, my ears sharp to hear your voice. So when life fades as a fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame." Do you think the artist wrote that too? anyone recognize it? sure is beautiful. On the drawing with the 4 faces the names Red Cloud, Sitting Bull, Chief Joseph, and Many Horns and the date 79.
